Martin County's Witham Field

There is a voluntary nighttime curfew from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. for all aircraft. The only exceptions to this are Air Ambulances, Rescue Aircraft and United States Government Aircraft, for which there are no curfews. I love that word VOLUNTARY!

Well after midnight I hear planes coming and going. At 5:39 am I was shaken out of bed by a jet that was so loud my windows shook. So much for a curfew. I am sure that was suppose to appease some of the critics in the early stages of negotiations.  This is why armatures should not be in office.

According to reports, some days there are more flights coming in and out of Stuart then Palm Beach International Airport. I do not think that anyone could have foreseen this much air traffic. 

We looked a beautiful home for sale near the Manatee Pocket. Certainly one of the more desirable properties in the county. I could not understand why someone would want to move from such a gorgeous setting.  As we were standing in the back yard, a plane was on its approach to land. It looked like the landing gear was going to roll on top of the roof. Now I know why the house was for sale. 

Another example of why armatures should never be in charge, of anything no less negotiations that have long term consequences, is the hundred year lease on the airport.  Martin County has almost no benefit from this. I can not imagine the arrogance it takes to sell the future out from the next generation.
