From traffic jams to high density housing, this is wrong for Martin County. It is not just an imposition to our community, it is also about the injury it inflicts on the environment. Let's keep the integrity of Martin County for generations to come. We do not oppose Costco coming to Stuart. We would like for them to find a more appropriate location.
See the studies that were conducted by professional engineers that refute the developer's studies. These reports were sent to the City Commissioners and are a part of the interveners presentation. These reports are compelling and should be seen by everyone.
Some many have poured their heart and soul speaking out against this monstrosity. So many unpublished and a few published letters to the editor. Read from some of the concerned community that shares our passion for Martin County
In case you missed the many news articles and TV coverage, you can see them here.
There are two well made documentary videos that are a must see and must share. Check them out.
RE: Stuart 21-02ESR AKA “Costco on Kanner Project”
The citizens of Martin County believe in our Comprehensive Plan, preserving our natural resources and the conservation of our environment as well as the safeguarding of our economy and lifestyle.
The truth is not being told in Stuart 21-02ERS. It paints a picture of an insignificant impact on the environment, of scant quantities of animals and birds simply going elsewhere without disruption and of little pollution entering the St Lucie River which is only 500 feet away. There is enough land on this property to accommodate a development and all the life that it currently inhabits. But profit dictates all the land be used for development, and the wildlife doesn’t pay rent.
This proposal, of gross over-development, does not consider the injurious effects on our community or the environment and also disregards the duty of stewardship. Development needs to work together with nature and to preserve what little remains. This project, in its current form, does not meet that expectation.
The people of Florida rely on our elected officials to maintain our precious environment. Only through diligence and resolve will we preserve Florida for future generations.
We call upon our Stuart commissioners to uphold your dedication to conservation. Please make it more than a campaign slogan.
